What is a Vero Beach Power Squadron?

Vero Beach Power Squadron(VBPS) is a non-profit group of volunteers who are socially compatible and have a common love and appreciation for pleasure boating, whether power or sail.

For more detail on VBPS see the December (20) archive posts.....

We are a member of District 8. We are one of the 450+ squadrons of the United States Power Squadron ®.

District 8 is one of the 33 districts in the organization and covers the East Coast of Florida from Sebastian Inlet to Key West.

Objectives of the organization are self education, civic service and social activities.

You do not need to own a boat to be a member.

The VBPS was chartered in 1956.

USPS Membership Drive

I went to a meeting that lasted all day Saturday. It was put on by the United States Power Squadron. It was their annual meeting and it was held in Orlando, Florida. I hear tell 1500 attended.

The USPS was organized in 1914, is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigation and related subjects. Our members are boating families who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating through education. We enjoy participating with our fellow members on the water and in the classroom. USPS had some 45,000 members organized into 450 squadrons across the country and in some US territories. USPS is America's largest non-profit boating organization and has been honored by three US presidents for its civic contributions.

They need membership to continue the cause for the future so thats why you are getting this. My name is Bob Scully and I want you to get with this group if you enjoy boating in the slightest. If you don’t have a boat that’s OK. If you have not been on a boat that’s OK. They say “Boating is fun and we’ll show you how.” They stand by this motto.
I encourage you to look up the local USPS group in your area and start the process
(http://www.usps.org/newpublic2/join.htm or contactme@hq.usps.org ). You will not be disappointed. They have a lot to offer to many individuals and do a lot to educate the public promoting safe boating. They are very social and get very involved giving back to the community.

If you are not able to find a squadron in your area, consider starting one. All you need to do is contact National on the net at http://www.usps.org/ or call 888-367-8777.
